Mildred Palaschak Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of MILDRED PALASCHAK announce her passing after a brief illness, on Thursday August 29, 2019 at Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home, Ponteix, Saskatchewan, at the age of 78 years. She was born on January 18, 1941 and grew up on the family farm near Ponteix, SK. After finishing school, she moved to Val Marie where she was a nanny for her older sister Sylvia and her husband Lavern Lizee. She met her future husband John at the Val Marie dam; local families would gather there on Sundays at the beach. She married Johnny Dec 1, 1962 and moved to the family farm in the Beaver Valley district where they raised 5 children. Mom enjoyed life. She square danced and curled with Johnny and they enjoyed travelling together. She was an avid hunter and a crack shot. She loved playing cards at family gatherings especially garbage canasta. She so enjoyed being a grandmother and loved being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always giving little gifts to everyone she loved. She loved doing crafts and from there she discovered her passion for painting most notably "Bob Ross". She travelled to Florida several times and became a certified instructor for Bob Ross style painting. She had an art studio in Val Marie where she taught painting classes and has numerous landscape and wildlife paintings hanging on the walls. After Johnny passed, she led an independent life still on the farm right up until a few weeks before she passed away. She was the driver for her close group of "bingo babes" that travelled to all of the bingos in the district for several years.  She liked going for coffee and sharing family meals at her close friends and neighbors Larry and Sherry Grant. She was often seen around town with her best friend Mildred Harbor. They were called the two Millie's or the M&M's and they had an enduring friendship. She is survived by her children, Earl (Tracey) Duchess AB, with their four children Christopher (Abby) and their children Gracey, Tommy, Layla and Cameron.
