Marthe Perrault Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Marthe Perrault (née Rouillet) on Saturday, June 5, 2021. She passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Foyer St. Joseph in Ponteix, which was her home for the past six years. Marthe was only one month away from her 100th Birthday. Marthe was born on the Rouillet homestead near Ponteix on July 6,1921. She left school when her Mother became ill as she still had two brothers living at home. Marthe met her husband Marcel at the local Catholic Youth Club. They courted for several years and were married on November 18,1952. Marthe and Marcel had three children: Raymond (1954), Daniel (1956) and Colette (1960). They lived in Gouverneur where Marcel bought grain and they also had the Post Office. In November, 1965 Marthe and the family moved to Ponteix where Marcel worked as a grain buyer until his retirement in 1985. Marthe worked as a clerk at many local businesses. She was a reliable casual employee at the local Drugstore, the Variety Store, and she retired from the Post Office in 1986 at the age of 65. Marcel and Marthe enjoyed their retirement making several trips camping and travelling. They also enjoyed several bus trips to Nevada where we were told they always had Good Luck! Marthe loved to knit, sew, crochet, play cards and she quite enjoyed ceramics. In fact, she took Adult Drivers Ed training so she could get a license to drive herself to Vanguard for ceramics classes! Daniel, her son, was often her "Licensed Driver" as she practiced with her Learner's permit. She was also a league bowler for many years. Marthe lost her dear Marcel in 2000. We were astonished when she continued to drive her red truck until she was 91 and lived in her own home until the age of 94 when she moved to the Foyer. She loved her time there and praised the staff often. She amazed the staff with her determination to assemble 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles as well as her avid cheering for any and all curling on TSN. She always had a favourite team.  Marthe was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Octavie Rouillet, brother Paul, sisters, Therese and Eugenie, husband Marcel, son Raymond, a great grandson and a great granddaughter, as well as many other Rouillet and Perrault family members. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter-in-law, Gerri Perrault, son Daniel (Paulette) Perrault, daughter Colette (Rick) Michaluk, grandchildren Denis (Leah) Perrault, Paul (Natalia) Perrault, Renee (Justin) Fowler, Danielle (Dalen) Everson, Michelle (Craig) Parley, Marc (Leah) Perrault and Kali Michaluk (Landon Gallup). Marthe was blessed with 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Roger Rouillet, sister-in-law Yolande Perrault and brother-in-law Elphege Laverdiere, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  The family invites all of you to say a special prayer for Marthe wherever you are on Friday evening as a Prayer Vigil. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Notre Dame D'Auvergne Parish in Ponteix, Sk. Interment will follow at Ponteix Parish Cemetery following the Mass.
