Leon Boutand

Boutaud, Leon Jules, age 83, of Ponteix SK, passed away August 23, 2019 at Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home. The memorial service was held at 2:00 pm, Saturday September 7, 2019, from Ponteix Parish Cemetery with Father Melchor Samonce officiating. A Life Tribute was presented by Armand and Denis Cloutier during the reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Leon is survived by his sister, Lucille (Harold) Ulm; brother, Denis Boutaud; nephew, Tim (Bobbie Jo) Ulm and their children, Hannah, Paige and Ajay; nephew, Curtis (Jan) Ulm; nephew, Michel (Susan) Boutaud and his daughter, Ashelynn and Kasyte Boutaud; and niece, Richelle Boutaud. Leon was predeceased by his father, Alphone Boutaud in 1988, his mother, Lucie Boutaud in 2007, and his sister, Leonie Boutaud in 1953. Leon was born on the family homestead, 2-9-12, on June 10, 1936, and attended Atoimah School. He was employed at the Ponteix Rural Telephone System in 1964-65, and all the rest of his life was spent ranching and farming for the family and then for himself. Leon was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion. Leon loved playing cards and crib, bowling and fishing. Leon also enjoyed Bingo. He also did lots of gardening alongside his mother and father. Leon moved to the Foyer in March 2018 when he could no longer stay alone on the farm. Leon was always very busy fixing fence or cleaning at the farm. He usually made it to town for dinner or coffee, maybe both. He enjoyed visiting his friends and neighbours, and loved branding time with his neighbours. He would often play a joke on someone; they never knew what he was going to do! He enjoyed his cows and horses, dogs and cats. Donations in Leon's memory may be made to the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home, P.O. Box 450, Pontiex SK S0N 1Z0.
