Gerard "Gerry" Fourny

The memorial mass for Mr. Gerard Fourny of Ponteix, Saskatchewan will be taking place on Saturday May 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., from Notre Dame d ’Auvergne Roman Catholic Church in Ponteix, with Father Jules Adator officiating. Following the memorial service, interment will take place at Notre Dame d ‘Auvergne Roman Catholic Cemetery.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Gerard “Gerry” Emile Fourny of Ponteix, Saskatchewan, announce his passing on December 3, 2024 at the age of 96 years old.  Survived by his loving wife, Rose, his children Rejeanne, Raymond (Helen), Leo (Lise), and Paulette.  He was blessed with 8 grandchildren Alicia (Todd), Amanda (Ken), Gilles (Rose), Rachelle (Darren), Chantale (James), Danielle (Kyle), Allyssa (Blake), Michelle, and 11 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, his 6 sisters, 1 brother, his daughter Jacqueline, and son-in-law Jacques.

Gerry was born Nov 26th, 1928 in Ponteix, SK. He married Rose Agnes Beliveau on June 8th, 1955, in Moose Jaw. Married for 69 ½ yrs, surviving many hardships, Gerry and Rose’s love story is magical and an example of true love to their family!  The Fourny home was always open for a bed and a meal, especially if you were a Habs fan.  

Gerry was an extremely hard worker dedicated to his family; he toiled on the farm until 1968.  Among many other jobs he worked for the Separate School Board and St. Joseph’s Church.  He was finally able to retire in 1993.  

Always busy, Gerry lovingly gifted his woodworking and crafts to his family and friends.  He also built wooden doll cribs for his grandchildren. 

Gerry loved Christmas.  The family anxiously awaited the Christmas baking box lovingly put together by him and Rose every year.  He spent days putting up thousands of lights and decorations, every year adding to his collection.  A special family memory was his 80th birthday when Jacques, Raymond and Leo put up 80 sets of lights at his home.  He won the community contest for the beautiful Christmas showing; this was one of many light contests that he won. 

Gerry was very committed to his church communities by volunteering his time to help in any way needed.
Gerry will be remembered for his generosity, witty sense of humor and intense love for his family.
