Dorothy Pain Obituary

PAIN, Dorothy of Swift Current died of natural causes on April 19, 2020, 2 months before her 100th birthday.  Mom was born on July 2, 1920 to Marie and Alfred Hakanson.  She started school in a one room school in the Cananea District, went to high school in Aneroid and completed her teacher training at the Moose Jaw Normal School.  Dorothy taught for two years at the Cananea school, one year in Hazenmore, and in Aneroid from 1943-45; 1958-74.  She married Alan Pain on September 15, 1944, when he was home from the Air Force on harvest leave.  They farmed and raised Arabian horses in Aneroid.  They retired to Swift Current in 2000.  Survived by: daughter Beverly and Son Bill (Elvina), Bev's two children: Mark and his girls Zoe and Sarah; Kristyne (Doug) and her children Adam (Kyla and their son Mason), Ty and Brandon; Bill and Elvina's three children: Janet (Chad) and their daughter Lexi; Jill (Trevor) and their daughter Abby; and Scott.  Her honorary children: Jerry, Linda and Judy and their families.  Her nephew Bob; nieces Janet (Bob) and Linda (Duane) and their families.  Mom loved people.  She enjoyed her family, friends and former students.  Her favorite activities were people watching and doing puzzles especially jig saw and search the word.  Dorothy was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands: Alta (Murray Powell), and Leona (Harold Busch), and her grandson Paul.  At her request there will be no service.  Internment will take place at a later date.  A special thank you to the caregivers at Willow Creek Manor, Swift Current for their wonderful care of Mom.  In lieu of donations, during this time of social distancing, take a moment to call a family member, neighbor, or a friend.  Lemieux  Funeral Home, Ponteix, SK were entrusted with the arrangements.
