Obituary

Robert Corbin: It's with great sadness that we share this obituary of Bob Corbin. He passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 30th in his home in Aneroid.  Bob was born June 23, 1942 in Kincaid. He is predeceased by his parents, Eric and Agnes (Toots) Corbin, and his wife Gerdi. He is survived by his son Jim Corbin and two granddaughters, Evie and Bella in Toronto, his older brother Bill Corbin in Victoria, and his partner of thirteen years Brenda Walls.  In 1960 at the age of 18 Bob joined the Black Watch Infantry. Three years later he transferred to the Lord Strathcona's Armoured where he remained until 1970. There was nothing better then when he would share his stories of his army buddies and tank driving time. Bob married Gertrude Zimmerman in Germany in 1968. Gerdi passed away in Calgary in early 2000. Bob then moved back "home" to be spend time with his aging mom Toots.  Bob loved being back. He was the pest control officer for the RM. Six days a week Bob would go to Aneroid's 50 Plus Club for coffee with friends. After coffee he would drive the country side looking for deer, coyotes, antelope and various species of birds. He would stop and visit with everyone he would see on his tour.  Bob made friends wherever he went.  His rancher and cowboy friends nicknamed him Colonel.  Wherever he went you'd hear someone call 'hey Colonel.'  Made his day.  He loved going to brandings and tease all the ranchers and cowboys.  Bob chose to quit drinking March 14, 1977.  His record was a real accomplish for him and those who knew and loved him.  So many people are going to miss this fun loving character!  Donations in Bob's memory can be made to the Aneroid 50 Plus Club, Aneroid, SK S0N 0C0.  For further information please call 306-625-3925, or visit our web site at www.lemieuxfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members on the family tribute wall.
