Hector Pord Obituary

PORD: Hector Joseph was born in Ponteix, SK on January 16, 1926 and he passed away on July 28, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve (nee Legault); brother Armond (Octavie) Pord; sisters Laurette (Larry) Shaw, Julie (Dayton) Hulbert, and Therese (Fern) Martin; and his parents William and Laura Pord. He is survived by his children: son Rick (Karen) Pord and their children Christopher (Stephanie), Tiffany, Jason and Jonathan, daughter Monique (Tony) Lacelle and their children Justin (Shannon), Brigitte (Travis), Jerrod (Michelle) and Logan (Allison), son Kelly (Helen) Pord and their children Matt (Kelsey), Chelsea (Jon) and Joshua, and son Mitch (Penny) Pord and their children Kurtis (Joanna), and daughter Jocelyne (Russell) Haugen and their children Lisa (Morgan), Jeff (Cori), Clayton (Sarah) and Jordan; as well as 19 great grandchildren. Dad left for Natal B.C. in 1949 to work in the mines and they stayed there for two years, then moved his family to Val Marie, SK where he worked for Cornet Motors until 1954. He then settled on the family farm south of Ponteix, SK. During his years on the farm he became very active in his community. He was involved in the R.M., the Credit Union Board, French Cultural Board, the church council, Knights Of Columbus, and the Wildlife Federation. He always wanted to give back to his community. As a young man he also had a dream of becoming a pilot and so he began his training in 1965 and became a pilot in 1966. There is nothing he loved more that to take his family or friends up for a ride, this was his hobby. He then joined the Flying Farmers Association and made some life long friends through this. Dad and mom had a chance to do some travelling in their later years, overseas as well as Canada from coast to coast, and in the U.S.A. Dad was a great guy and always had a keen interest in politics, current news and all the sports channels especially wrestling. We will all miss his genuine love for his family and friends. The funeral service was held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church in Ponteix, SK with Father Guy Amedee Ainemon officiating. The pianist was Danny Roberge, soloist was Allison Lapointe-Lacelle, the cross bearer was Justin Lacelle and the urn bearer was Jerrod Lacelle.
